How do I apply for coverage?
·
A licensed Mississippi agent or broker authorized by the
owner shall make applications on behalf of the owner of the insurable
interest. The application can be downloaded (PDF|Ms
Word) through the MRPIUA website
and saved for future applicants. The application should be completed
with all requested information included and mailed to MRPIUA along with
the total premium plus inspection fee. The total premium plus inspection
fee must accompany the application so that there is no delay in binding

What properties are eligible?
·
All 1 and/or 2 family dwelling real property and dwelling
builder’s risks and/or their contents located in the state of
Mississippi. Return

What types of coverage are available?
·
Fire and Extended Coverage dwelling policies as provided in
Form DP 00 00 01 MRPIUA 07 03. Extended Coverage in the three lower
coastal counties of Mississippi (Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson
counties) does not included Wind & Hail perils. Coverage for these
perils may be obtained through the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting Association.

What is the amount of the deductible?
·
The deductible amount for all policies issued by MRPIUA is
$500.00.

Is financing available for the amount of premium?
·
Financing of the premium amount is not available. Full
payment of the total premium must accompany the application upon
submission to MRPIUA.

What are the limits of insurance?
·
Limits on the amount of insurance are $200,000.00 for the
building and $75,000.00 for contents.

How can I determine the protection class for a
location?
·
MRPIUA uses protection classes set by the Mississippi State
Rating Bureau. To obtain a listing of protection classes for
Mississippi, contact MSRB’s office at 601-981-2915 or visit the MSRB
website, www.msratingbureau.com, where Mississippi Licensed agents can
obtain a Protection class list via the Internet. Return to Top

What is Certified Class 10 Credit and who is eligible
for it?
·
A credit of 5% shall be allowed on 10th class
dwellings located within 5 road miles travel distance from a responding
fire department fire station located in a 3rd through 9th
class municipality or fire district. The name of the municipality
providing the fire department response, together with the road mile
travel distance from the responding fire station to the dwelling shall
be included in the MRPIUA application.
·
A credit of 5% shall be allowed on 10th class
dwellings located within 5 road miles travel distance from a responding
fire department fire station located outside of a 3rd through
9th class municipality or fire district provided the fire
department fire station is certified and listed by the MSRB. The name and
location (including county name) of the Certified Fire Department,
together with the road mile travel distance from the responding fire
station to the dwelling shall be included in the MRPIUA application.

What is Suburban Classification and who is eligible for
it?
·
When all of the following distance requirements are
applicable, dwellings located outside and adjacent to the corporate
limits of a Municipality or Legal Fire District grading 3rd,
4th or 5th class shall be rated as under 9th
class protection.
1.)
The Dwelling must be within 1 mile of the corporate limits;
2.)
The Dwelling must be within 1,000 feet of a standard public
fire hydrant;
3.)
The Dwelling must be within 5 miles of a responding Fire
Department Fire Station located in the municipality or Legal Fire
District.
·
When all of the following distance requirements are
applicable, dwellings located outside and adjacent to the corporate
limits of a Municipality or Legal Fire District grading 6th, 7th
or 8th class shall be rated as under 9th class
protection.
1.)
The Dwelling must be within 1/2 mile of the corporate limits;
2.)
The Dwelling must be within 500 feet of a standard public
fire hydrant;
3.)
The Dwelling must be within 5 miles of a responding Fire
Department Fire Station located in the municipality or Legal Fire

Are there special stipulations for insureds that live
in the coastal area of Mississippi?
·
Properties located in the three coastal counties of
Mississippi (Hancock, Harrison, and Jackson counties) cannot obtained
Wind & Hail coverage through the MRPIUA. Coverage of these perils
may be obtained through the Mississippi Windstorm Underwriting
Association.

Are policies written through MRRUA still in force?
·
Any policy written through MRRUA is still effective for one
year upon binding of coverage. Renewals of these policies after July 1,
2003 will be written through MRPIUA upon receipt of the application for
renewal.

What is the commission for policies written through
MRPIUA?
·
Commission to a licensed agent or broker designated by the
applicant is 10%. No commission is payable on inspections fees.
