MWUA's Coastal Services Office was established April 1, 2013 and is staffed with one person, the Coastal Services Director. The function of this office is to assist coastal agents with a better underdstanding of the rules, operations and functions of the MWUA. The Director also meets with local building officials, contractors, and engineers to help promote and educate on how to improve construction in the coastal areas to help mitigate against possible wind losses. The Director is also available for speaking engagements to various clubs and organizations about the MWUA, its retrofit program as well as the IBHS Fortified program. The Coastal office does not perform any operational functions for MWUA, such as application processing or receipt of payments. All operations are performed from its main office at 6455 Wirtz Road, Flowood, MS 39232. Note: Due to the return of active voluntary market insurer competition for wind/hail coverage on the MS Coast, MWUA closed the Bayview Avenue, Biloxi Coast office location. Coastal Director functions are now managed from the main Flowood, MS location noted below.
